About me

hi!  I’m Sarah in Springfield, Oregon. I live here with my four dogs: Anna, TeddyBear, Peanut, and Chloe. Check out my blog and I’ll tell you all about them. 🙂 I am a physical therapist in a local nursing home, and the dogs all come in with me to visit the residents and staff.

I am a native of Rhode Island, rather far away from my present home of Oregon.  I attended Quinnipiac University back in the ’80’s when it was known as Quinnipiac College.  I graduated with a BS in Physical Therapy in 1989.

From there I went West.  I followed my heart to California, San Diego to be exact.  I have spent 10 years there, on and off.  I also spent time in Washington, near Tacoma, and in northern CA, north of Sacramento.  I have now been in Oregon for five years.   However, as I said, my heart will always be in San Diego… specifically Ocean Beach.

I am now also a certified Canine Massage Therapist, in addition to a Level III Reiki Master Practitioner.  I love being able to help our four-footed friends ease their physical and emotional pains.

What a wonderful post script to our interview at the library today, Sarah! Seeing your dog children in photos filled out the words beautifully. Their stories, as told through you, warm one’s heart better than a cup of tea on a rainy Oregon day . . .

Please give each one a loving pet for me! Woof!

  2. Hi Sarah,
What a great blog. I’m sorry to hear about Teddy Bear. Gracie is 13 1/2 years old now and we deal with a lot of the same issues. I take her to the canal near Autzen for water therapy. She walk/jogs in the water and loves it. It gives her a little cardio without the weight bearing. Maybe Teddy would like it, too.
Best wishes to you and your pack.

This is a great website/blog. It has been one of my goals to become a certified Canine Massage Therapist.
I would love to hear more about more about your work as a certified Canine Massage Therapist, if you don’t mind.

    Thanks,
    Nikki (Gracie).

    Sarah,
This was so wonderful to read…you have such a great and free life. I had no idea you were a Reiki master that is so amazing! So glad we reconnected. Very sorry for you recent loss of Anna…she was absolutely beautiful. Her gentle soul was reflected through her eyes in all your pictures.

    Hi Sarah –
I read a response of yours to Patricia McConnell’s blog entry on Animal Assisted Therapy Through the Ages (Sept 28th) where you offered to help for beginners interested in either AAT or AAA. I have such an interest and am hoping we could be in contact to share some ideas.
    Thank you in advance,
    Lindsay
